Suffering Church: What Theatre Can Teach Us About Those Who Leave

In 2019 the Pew Research Center released a study that revealed between the years 2009 and 2019 the number of people in the United States identifying as Christians dropped by 12 percent. Rev. Karen Robu was curious about the stories behind the numbers and began interviewing people as to their reasons for leaving church. The result of the interviews is her play Suffering Church. The first act is a series of scenes and monologues based on her interviews and the second act borrows from Theatre of the Oppressed and involves audience participation.

You are invited to participate in a meaningful performance that seeks to discover what theatre can teach us about those who leave.

This play contains adult language and themes, and is not intended for young audiences.

7 p.m. Performance followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall

Tickets are $20
