Caring Ministries at Plymouth

Our ministry of caring involves the entire congregation as every member is encouraged to offer support and care to members in need. Caring Ministry programs are directed by our ministers and deacons. These specialized ministries include pastoral care from our clergy, our Stephen Ministry program, and our parish nurse program.

Pastoral Care

Our pastoral staff is always on call to attend to members who have experienced trauma in their lives. Hospital and home visits for members may be arranged through our church office by calling 316-684-0221.

Stephen Ministry

Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry program equips lay-people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our church and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

A Stephen Minister is…
  • A person of God who walks beside someone who is hurting
  • A congregation member with gifts for caregiving who was carefully selected to serve in the role of Stephen Minister
  • A lay-person who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
  • A caring, Christian friend who listens, prays, supports, and encourages
  • Someone who will be there for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for as long as there is a need
People who need care…
  • Receive quality, confidential care for their hurts and needs
  • Find hope, healing, and a new sense of self-worth through the support of a Stephen Minister
  • Know they are remembered and supported by their congregation in times of personal difficulty
  • Receive ongoing care for continuous needs long after the onset of a crisis, when many others have forgotten about them
  • Grow in a deeper relationship with God as they experience God’s unconditional love for them through their Stephen Minister
To receive care…
